INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR MALA:
WHAT IS A MALA: A mala means 'heavenly garland' and is used for reflection, yoga practice, cleansing of the chakras or as part of your bohemian style.
A mala has many names and is also referred to as yoga beads, meditation beads, prayer beads, mala mala, yoga necklace, yoga jewelry, rosary and mala beads.
TO MEDITATE WITH YOUR MALA (JAPA MEDITATION): Chanting is where we repeat a word, sentence or more to ourselves over and over again. Chanting can be done anywhere and throughout the course of a day, standing, seated, walking, whatever. When we chant it helps us to deflect other thoughts and we can concentrate almost entirely on our chanting. Chants can be in Sanskrit or in English. You can chant whatever you like. This is where your mala beads come into use. If you are sitting while chanting you would recite the chant 108 times to complete a full cycle. It is said that when one has finished the cycle of 108 repetitions that they will have reached a state of enlightenment.
ABOUT YOUR MALA BEADS:
LEMON QUARTZ: Quartz is said to help structure, focus and amplify thoughts and information. It is also thought to transmit energy. Because the color yellow is associated with clarity, communication and happiness, lemon quartz is believed to help balance and strengthen these aspects.
Lemon quartz is created by heating amethyst, yellow quartz and iron together at extremely high temperatures. This heating process is what gives lemon quartz its brilliant, yellow color. The radiant beauty of lemon quartz is truly dazzling, particlarly when light catches the facets and it truly comes to life.
AMETRINE: Ametrine is a mixture of Amethyst and Citrine, both varieties of quartz crystal. It carries the energy of both of these stones, and is a harmonious blend of their energies. This lovely stone embodies the energy of the above crystals, to enhance mental and spiritual clarity, while uniting masculine and feminine energies. As it is a type of quartz it will amplify the energy of the vibration of both of the stones that it is made up of. Its healing energy releases negativity from within the aura, and it aids weight loss and helps you to release your addictions. If are studying, the Citrine energy within this stone helps you to stay focused, as well as using the Amethyst vibration within it, the higher energies of the crown chakra, for inspiration.
AMETHYST: Also known as “Bishop’s Stone”. Name comes from Greek “a methustos” - not to intoxicate and Ancient Greeks made drinking vessels from Amethyst in the belief it would prevent drunkenness. Ancient Egyptians wore Amethyst as a protective stone and beads of Amethyst have been found in Anglo Saxon graves in England. Believed to be a meditative and calming stone, working in the emotional, spiritual and physical planes to provide calm, balance, patience and peace.
SACRED RUDRAKSHA SEEDS: Rudraksha is formed by the combination of two words ‘Rudra’ & ‘Aksha’ that refers to the tears that rolled down eyes of great Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva went into deep meditation for the purpose of welfare of all the living beings. After his several years of deep contemplation when he opened his eyes, he saw all the pain & suffering everyone’s facing around, looking at the same tears rolled down his eyes, those tear drops when fell on the ground turned into trees later down the years which acquired blue coloured fruits whose coating when removed the inside layer found was the holy seed – The Rudraksha. Rudraksha thus are sacred beads with very high spiritual and medicinal values. Rudraksha trees are commonly found in the areas between the Foothills of Himalayas & Ganges plains and in Indonesia. The divine qualities of this sacred holy bead were first found in ancient scriptures of Hindus. They are popular traditional healing beads extensively used to treat a several diseases and also purify the wearer (spiritually as well as mentally). They bless one with peace of mind; protect against evil doers and spirits; and bless with peace and prosperity.
STERLING SILVER: Sterling silver is one of the world’s most popular precious metals. Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of one or more other metals. Copper is the most common metal added to silver to create the sterling alloy. The purpose of the alloy is to harden and strengthen the silver. Pure silver, which is 99.9%, is much softer than sterling silver and is not practical to wear as everyday jewelry.
Silver has numerous health properties that have been used across time and culture. It is a powerful antimicrobial agent that aids in cold and flu prevention, wound healing, and skin care. Silver also helps with internal heat regulation and circulation. When applied in the right quantity and manner, silver also provides protection against harmful electromagnetic radiation from cellphones and other electronics.
